Stephen M. Komie

Throughout his 40 year legal career, Stephen M. Komie has been an active member and leader of the Illinois State Bar Association. As a trial lawyer, he has built relationships with attorneys and clients throughout the State of Illinois. He understands the needs and issues ALL Illinois lawyers face and is committed to being an advocate for lawyers both downstate and upstate.

Attorney Komie's career includes many notable highlights including arguing five cases before the Illinois Supreme Court. He is a proven leader of the ISBA. He has been elected to the Assembly for 32 years and the Board of Governors for 18 years, and has served as Chair and member of multiple Section Councils, Committees, and Task Forces. He authored the Attorney Bill of Rights for expungement of ARDC complaints, which was adopted by the Illinois Supreme Court, and he has made appearances on legislative issues for the ISBA at the Illinois General Assembly and United States Congress. He continues to be dedicated to providing high quality CLE for all ISBA members and protecting Illinois lawyers against the unauthorized practice of law.
